CHARLES IAN NASH has practiced law in the Melbourne, Florida area since 1980, and has been a Board Certified Wills, Trusts & Estates attorney since 1987. He received his B.A. from Grinnell College, his J.D. from Drake University and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Graduate Tax Program. Mr. Nash is a Fellow and Past Regent of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a former chair of ACTEC’s Asset Protection Committee. He is a past President of the Brevard County Estate Planning Council. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The ACTEC Foundation, Inc. Mr. Nash is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. Mr. Nash is a member of The Florida Bar. Mr. Nash is a partner in the law firm of Nash & Kromash, LLP. He serves on the Executive Council of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, is a member of that Section’s Probate Law and Procedure Committee (former chair), Asset Protection Committee (former chair), Estate and Trust Tax Planning Committee (former chair), Trust Law Committee, Homestead Issues Study Committee (former co-vice chair), Liaison with ACTEC, Elective Share Review Committee (former co-chair), and IRA and Employee Benefits Committee (former chair). He is a contributing author to Basic Estate Planning in Florida, Twelfth Edition, Litigation Under Florida Probate Code, Fourteenth Edition, Administration of Trusts in Florida, Twelfth Edition, and Asset Protection in Florida, Eighth Edition, all published by The Florida Bar. He is a frequent speaker on estate planning, trust, probate and guardianship administration and tax law topics. Mr. Nash regularly assists clients with the creation and modification of both simple and complex estate plans, tax minimization planning, the formation of charitable entities including private foundations, the establishment of business entities such as limited liability limited partnerships and limited liability companies, asset protection planning, the administration of estates and trusts and tax controversies. He has served over the years on the governing boards of numerous local charitable organizations. Mr. Nash is the former General Counsel for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, where he served in that position for more than 20 years.
